«People or Planet?» travels across eight countries in sub-Saharan Africa to take apart a false choice. Over four years, Francisco Galeazzi documented how different communities negotiate their coexistence with the land they live on: beekeepers who work the swarm bare-handed in a conflict zone, women who return to the fields each morning, rangers who protect the last gorillas of eastern Congo, caregivers who raise orphaned chimpanzees. This is not a book about climate victims. It's a book about the ways of coexisting that already exist — and about what it takes to sustain them.

On the margins of the planet — conflict zones, the climate frontier, fragile territories — people neither dominate nature nor flee from it. They negotiate a way to live together.
