About the project
In collaboration with Mantis, this documentary follows John, a 30-year-old Rwandan visionary who founded an NGO dedicated to expanding access to education and sustainable livelihoods. Through his innovative project turning banana husks into eco-friendly flip-flops, John has created jobs for local mothers and inspired a new model of circular economy in rural Africa. What began as a local initiative has now grown across Rwanda and beyond, supported by the Mantis hotel chain, showcasing how grassroots innovation can drive real, lasting impact.
